EET 2.0 FAQ for expats and foreign businesses

Answers to the questions foreign entrepreneurs ask most about the Czech sales registration starting 1 January 2027.

Quick answer
EET 2.0 applies to foreigners who accept in-person payments in the Czech Republic from 1 January 2027. Bank transfers and online payments are exempt. A free official app, MOJE EET, launches on 1 December 2026; an English interface is not yet confirmed.

I am a foreigner doing business in the Czech Republic. Does EET 2.0 apply to me?

Yes, if you accept in-person payments (cash, card at the point of sale, QR) on Czech territory. The obligation depends on where and how the payment happens, not on your nationality or where your company is registered.

Is there an English interface for MOJE EET or the EET 2.0 system?

This has not yet been confirmed. The Financial Administration has not announced whether the free MOJE EET app or the DIS+ portal will offer an English interface. We will update this page when official information is available.

What if I only invoice clients by bank transfer?

Then EET 2.0 does not apply to you. Bank transfers are remote payments and are not registered. Only contact payments accepted in person, such as cash or a card payment on an in-store terminal, must be reported.

I run an e-shop selling to Czech customers from abroad. Do I need EET 2.0?

No, as long as your customers pay remotely (online card payment, payment gateway, bank transfer). An obligation can arise only if you accept an in-person payment on Czech territory, for example cash at a Czech pick-up point.

When does EET 2.0 start?

The law takes effect on 1 January 2027. Before that: the developer test environment opened on 1 July 2026, EET 2.0 features in the DIS+ tax mailbox arrive on 1 November 2026, and the free MOJE EET app launches on 1 December 2026.

Do I have to print receipts?

No. Unlike the original EET, printing a receipt is not mandatory under EET 2.0. The customer has the right to ask for one, but you do not have to issue receipts automatically.

How much does compliance cost?

The smallest businesses with a limited number of transactions can use the free official MOJE EET app from 1 December 2026; a smartphone or tablet is enough. Commercial cash register systems start at around CZK 99 per month. The signing certificate is generated free of charge in DIS+.

What are the penalties for non-compliance?

Serious obstruction of sales registration or failure to report a sale can be fined up to CZK 500,000. Minor breaches, such as not displaying the mandatory information notice, carry fines up to CZK 50,000.

Are card payments registered?

Yes, if the card is used in person on a terminal at your premises. An online card payment on an e-shop is a remote payment and is not registered.

I rent out a flat on Airbnb in Prague. Does EET 2.0 apply?

Not if guests pay online through the platform, which is a remote payment. If you accept cash from guests on site, that is a contact payment and must be registered.
